How to Find Your Ring Size at Home (With a Size Chart)
Getting the right ring size means your ring is comfortable, secure and doesn't need resizing later. Here are simple ways to measure at home, plus a size chart.
Method 1: Measure a ring you already own
This is the most accurate home method. Take a ring that fits the intended finger well and measure the inside diameter (edge to edge across the inside, not including the metal) in millimeters. Then find the closest match in the chart below.
Method 2: String or paper strip
- Wrap a thin strip of paper or non-stretchy string around the base of your finger.
- Mark where the end overlaps. It should be snug but still slide over your knuckle.
- Lay it flat and measure the length in millimeters. That's your circumference.
- Match it to the chart below.
Method 3: Visit a local jeweler
Most jewelers will size your finger for free in a couple of minutes, which is the most reliable option if you're between sizes.

Tips for an accurate size
- Measure at the end of the day. Fingers are slightly larger in the evening and when warm.
- Avoid measuring when cold. Cold fingers shrink and can give you a size too small.
- Measure 3–4 times and use the average.
- Wide bands fit tighter. For bands wider than about 6mm, consider going up a quarter to half size.
- Between sizes? Choose the larger size. It's easier to wear comfortably.
